Becoming Daddy by R.R. Banks–Review

Becoming Daddy by R.R. Banks is his best book yet. It is a quick, sweet and heartwarming read that is full of laughable moments.

Rue and Richard are the heroine and hero of this book. Richard is a prominent businessman who is looking to become a father. He has a girlfriend/significant other who is truly a wretched woman. She is an icy, elitist who appears to be above becoming a mother and looking for a surrogate. This, however, does not stop Richard from finding one. It is shown through the writing that Richard has true devotion to this process of having a baby.

Rue is an adorable character. She is strong, loyal, kind, caring and lovable. Rue has become a city girl, but is really a country girl at heart. She is a no nonsense girl with a level head who understands the value of family. By accident she ends up at the contract baby interviews. How she got there though is an incredibly funny story. She ends up going through this process, not only because she needs the money, but she enjoys the idea of helping a childless couple bring life to their home. This does not make her greedy, she is trying to save her Grammyma’s house, which happens to be the house she grew up in. There is a tradition that started with Rue’s mom, which she carries on with her surrogate baby. It is a tear jerker, heartwarmingly tender and emotional moment. Absolute perfection and so sweet!

Becoming Daddy is wonderful read that focuses around the concept of love, family and home. Rue and Richard are a wonderful dichotomy as a couple (She’s a country girl, he’s an upper crust city boy). This works well together in the standpoint that no matter where you come from there truly is nothing like family and home. Richard has a wonderful transformation from upper crust society to Whiskey Hollow everyday man. As I mentioned before, this is by far R.R. Banks best book yet!
