Lake by Michelle Heard–Review

I can’t believe I have to say this, but it’s over. I loved this series so much and although I loved Falcon and Mason, Lake and Lee’s story really stole my heart.

Going into Lake, I was curious as to how, Ms. Heard, would pull off the arranged marriage. Some stories that center around this can either go one of two ways…good or bad. Luckily, Lake was on the good side.

Despite their inauspicious beginning, Lake and Lee are perfectly matched and are true love epitomized. Lee is surrounded by heartache, impersonal, prison like living conditions, yet, has a spirit that is yearning to soar free. Lake, as we know, may be quiet, but he is as keen as a hawk on a hunt. He is gentlemanly, attentive, and above all, a protector.

Michelle wrote a wonderful book filled with high’s, low’s, and, roadblocks that challenged this young couple. Will Lake and Lee, two people from differing backgrounds, become a loving couple and prosper despite their adversities?

‘I don’t know why they call it falling in love. It doesn’t feel like I’m falling at all. It feels like I’ve finally found the other half of me…”

Forever My Saint by Monica James–Review

I finished reading four days ago and I’m still speechless. Every time I think about Saint and Willow, I replay everything in my brain and end up gob smacked and sighing. Monica James, what have you truly done to me?Excuse Me GIF - Carrie SexAndTheCity Shocked GIFs

It is such a bittersweet moment to have reached ‘The End’. Through the course of the trilogy, I had fallen in love with some of the characters and absolutely, despised others. In either case, though, the words printed evoked such an incredibly strong feeling, it was hard not to feel sucked into their world. Ms. James displayed such a strong character development throughout the series, it was beautiful to see on our main and some of our secondary characters.

In FMS, we see a role reversal between Willow and Saint. This time around, Saint needs a strong and protective savior.

📢Savior, party of one. Calling Willow, party of one for a savior position? 📢

Willow stepped up big time. She was such a bad@ss, digging deep and displaying such strength and determination to do whatever she needed to do. She was put into situations, that made her question herself, but with a newfound fortitude, she was able to work through it and still show compassion.

‘This isn’t a man’s world; this is my world.’

Saint. I love Saint. In books one and two, he was this larger than life beast who is fiercely protective of Willow. While doing this, he also showed us a ‘softer’ side. Now, as I mentioned, they had a role reversal of sorts. This time, Saint is the one who needs saving. Instead of this unbeatable beast, he is put into a situation that displays a less alpha side only through the use of drugs and other ‘means’.

Now that I’ve had time to digest this story, I’ve realized it has vague themes of, ‘The Gift of the Magi’, in it. If you are not familiar with this story, it talks about a couple who doesn’t have money for gifts, so they sell their most prized possession to pay for a gift to the other. In Forever My Saint, we’re not talking about jewels, riches or fortunes. Willow and Saint are each other’s most prized possession and because of this, they do what they can (or must) to save the other. In such a dark and emotionally horrendous book, it was beautiful to see.

‘When I think about losing Saint, my entire world crumbles, giving way to perpetual darkness.’

As I mentioned, writing this now is such a bittersweet moment. It means, we’re done. There is no more, but that’s ok. Don’t dwell on that. Think about all the incredible things that happen throughout the book. Monica will keep you on the edge of your seat with whatever may rise up next. Twists and turns are abundant and there is no way you can predict what the next move will be. Saint and Willow will always have a piece of my heart and I couldn’t be happier with the conclusion this couple achieved.

Tap Out by Alley Ciz–Review

You know when you just have to read a book. Tap Out was that book for me. Firstly, it was because of Power Play. (If you haven’t read it, you must). It’s through that book that I got a good sense of her writing style. She’s sarcastic, her heroines are feisty, and some of the best use of ingenious jesting I have seen in a book, thus far. I laughed, cried (happy tears), had a spit take or two (Thank you, Alley😉), and just overall swooned. Secondly, I’ve been blessed in life to be able to work with athletes and Alley, truly, brought me back to that time. Her accuracy with styles of fighting, taping procedures, the overall fighting program/routine, and of course, equipment (uh-hum, wreck bag. 🤣🤣🤣) was completely true to life.

Gage is more than a man, he’s a mountain at 6’7”, 260 lbs., with corded, sinewy muscles…um, yes, please! 🙋. However, besides, his external physicality, he is sweet, family oriented, protective, and alpha protective to the core, with a true love for his MMA job. Straight up, Gage is a catch.

“She swallowed–hard–at the arm porn perfection now inches from her face.”

Rocky Steele. I must admit that I have a slight crush on her, because I want to be her. She is a Physical Therapist with many credentials behind her, hence, why she is ‘Alphabet Soup’. She comes from an MMA family and knows how to take care of herself. She is fierce, passionate about life and career, beautiful, and fit. She is not afraid to not only stand her ground but push you off of it and out of your comfort zone. The girl has mad skills. There is one small thing that is her weakness. Her childhood crush on Gage James.

“Just so you know…I have every intention of making you mine.”

Rocky and Gage are so passionate and hot, but they are truly the key to each other’s lock. I loved this couple so much. There are so many ‘goals’ in this book, that it was easy to fall in love with Tap Out. #RelationshipGoals #FriendshipGoals #FamilyGoals #WhoWantsToBeInACoven (goals).

Alley Ciz wrote with absolute perfection. Her timing, plot line, story line, topic accuracy, and pacing were all on point. The ability she had to absolutely swarm and encase me, completely making me feel as if I was the one sitting on the couch next to any member of the group, or ringside was outstanding. Tap Out, remember to put that on your TBR right now!! You won’t want to miss it!!

“The math totally adds up.”

“‘What math?’ she asked, already regretting the decision. ‘That you should bang.'”

“‘All I’m saying is P plus V equals O. As in orgasms,’ she whispered the last. ‘See…math.'”

Mason (Trinity Academy, book 2) by Michelle Heard–Review

Ms. Heard is beginning to grab my attention, and I like it!! In my little world, she is soon becoming the queen of one-page cliffhangers. Cliffie’s that I never saw coming and, literally, took my breath away. Wow, Michelle, really??

Trinity Academy is an interconnected series, with each book focused on a different couple. This one is about Mason Chargrill and Kingsley Hunt. In the last book, we read about Falcon Reyes and Layla Shepard and they are also featured throughout the book. YES, we get more of Falcon and Layla. We also get to know Lake a little more, as well as Preston, the universal PA.

I, literally, could not put this down. I was so sucked into every word, dialogue, scene, and situation. ENTHRALLED!! Mason starts out where Falcon ends and from the get-go, there is nothing but, full steam ahead. Remember, these guys are like the Three Musketeers, ‘All for one and one for all, united we stand divided we fall.’ Falcon, Mason, and Lake take this saying true to heart. No matter what is going on in their world’s, they have each other’s back to form a united front. This is completely evident during some of the trying times throughout the book.

Mason…❤❤❤! In Falcon, I was thoroughly about him, yet there was just something about Mason that had me so intrigued with him and his story. So, need less to say, when I got the book, I absolutely fell in love and absolutely adored him. He is such a broody MF, with no cares left to give, drowning in an overabundance of negative emotions. Despite all this, I couldn’t help but fall for this a@@hole.

Kingsley is Layla’s roommate and by default, in the boy’s group, where others know not to mess with her. Over the course of many tragic and eye-opening events, Mason and Kingsley both need to re-assess their ‘Fuck Frenemies’ relationship.

Despite some, ‘Aww, hell’ and ‘No way’ moments. I was utterly in love, sucked in, and swept along with the story. Despite heavy and shocking moments, there were many laugh out loud/snort moments. I ended this book with a few runaway tears. Now, were they from the emotional overload or sadness, I don’t know. I do know, I anxiously await Lake’s book now. If for any reason, that cliffhanger, Michelle!!

Mason by Michelle Heard–New Release

“You’re my assistant.”

The magic words every girl at Trinity Academy are dying to hear.

But I’m the one who gets stuck with Mason Chargill, the star of most women’s fantasies but my nightmare. One of the heirs to CRC Holdings, he might be dangerously gorgeous, but his cold and callous demeanor makes him an ice prince.

He expects me to abide by the Academy’s hierarchy, to be at his constant beck and call.

Yeah, right… hell will freeze over before that ever happens.

Unfortunately for him, I’m no pushover.

Unfortunately for me, he’s determined to break me.

If only there were a way to melt that shard of ice, he calls a heart.

Falcon by Michelle Heard–Review

When I started to see all the teasers and blurbs, I thought Trinity Academy would be following the newest trend, high school/college bully romance with a touch of Reverse Harem. Interestingly enough, Ms. Heard took Falcon in a different direction and I can’t say that I’m all that upset over it.

Now, don’t get me wrong, HS/College, bully romance, reverse harem, and slightly dark is my jam. So, I am thoroughly enjoying the trend now. With that said, I was slightly let down, because I was used to so much drama, but I can now correct myself in saying that while it wasn’t overly dramatic, it was a chock-full storyline with issues, character growth and finding oneself, which is just as good.

One thing I absolutely adored, was the camaraderie of Falcon, Lake and Mason. They were so tight, that they formed their own little family. In this case, the family you choose is stronger than blood. Some of the sacrifices they made for each other, as well as, having another’s back even if it didn’t involve them, was spectacular.

Falcon was not a story, just about Falcon, but included snippets of what we could expect in Mason and Lake’s stories. Their personalities jumped of the page and I can’t wait to read about each one.

Besides, the above misconception, I also thought I would be reading all about greed, wealth, and the power that comes with it. That wasn’t the full focus. Were these guys obscenely wealthy? Um, yep. Were there two different aspects of power (parental generation vs. the boys)? Heck yeah, but Michelle Heard somehow made it more than the superficial stuff. She dug deep and that’s when we got to see hopes, dreams, and, personalities.

Layla. I LOVED Layla! Her mother is the PA to Falcon’s father and gets a spot in Trinity Academy where she’s a freshman. She is the opposite of any of her peers and is afraid that her ‘secret’ will come out. Layla is spunky, feisty, unafraid to curb her tongue around these upper crust students. She gives as good as she gets. She develops a strong friendship with Kingsley Hunt and together they are two peas in a pod.

The other thing for me to make it a 4⭐read, is the pace at which some of the ‘drama/issues’ are resolved. I will say, Falcon, was a quick read and am not sure if that had something to do with it. Did this truly effect my experience while reading this book? Not really, I just couldn’t make it a 5⭐, because of it.

I, truly, enjoyed this read and am looking forward to reading Mason’s book. There’s something about a brooding, bitter guy.

Excerpt:
“You have to pull away. I’m not strong enough to let you go,” he whispers, and it feels as if the words carry a deeper meaning.

I lower my legs and squeeze myself out from the space between Falcon and the wall. With a trembling hand, I try to straighten my hair before I open the door. Blocking the inside of my suite with my body, I say, “I’m going to have to miss today’s class. Can you take notes for me?”

A slow smile spreads over Kingsley’s face. “Sure. We can exchange notes later, although I bet yours will be much more interesting than mine.”

I stick my tongue out at her, which only makes her laugh as she walks away. “Enjoy it.”

I shake my head as I close the door and turning around, I lean back against it.

Falcon is still standing exactly where I left him, bracing himself with hands against the wall. I let my eyes glide over the wide expanse of his back, his trim waist, perfect butt, and strong legs.

There’s so much power in this man.

Not only is he physically strong, but he has the kind of influence most people can’t even begin to imagine.

And me… I’m an eighteen-year-old girl who managed to make him lose control.
