I do believe that the Sinister Fairytales Series if off to a great start. Venom was outstanding and to be followed up by K Webster is literary gold. Cold Queen is a riff off Frozen, but in an oh so delicious adult re-telling. No little kids allowed on this one! 😉😏
Cold Queen starts with Queen Elzira Whitestone of Norta Icelands slowly dying. A powerful Queen who could not defend her kingdom, but had loyal soldiers, the Eyes of the White, that would defend and standby her.
King Ryke Bloodsun of Souta Volcanoes is looking to possibly expand his land but must go through the Norta lands. He comes across Queen Elzira and the rest is history (😉). He sits down with the Volcs at his back with Queen Elzira to discuss moving through her land. Well, next thing you know, Ryke isn’t leaving without a queen.
For a person who isn’t usually very fond of fantasy type stories, Cold Queen drew me in. There are so many different aspects to the storyline that you wouldn’t see coming. There was weakness and strength, fire and ice, merging individual pathways into one, twists and turns, secrets, and of course, romantic sexiness.
As a lover of K Webster’s dark romances, this was an interesting twist on both her writing and on Frozen. I would recommend this, if not for the cover alone. Absolutely stunning!!
