Primitivo by Rose Croft–Review

44317147._SY475_We first saw Emilio in his brother’s book, Cabezon. While we did get a nice introduction to him and the Mendoza family, it wasn’t until I read Primitivo that I was seriously hooked on Emilio. I loved Dani and Vince in Cabezon, but Primitivo just drove the nail home with how much I love the whole entire Mendoza-Garcia family.

It’s safe to say that the Mendoza clan have not had an easy start in life. They have had to endure more by the age of 18 than most of us in all our lives.

In reading Cabezon, I thought I had read my favorite male character, Vince. I was wrong. I still love Vince (& Dani), but I adore Emilio. Is it the ovaries bursting, because your reading about a hot dad and his son? It doesn’t hurt, but I don’t know. Is it the love that he evokes so much with the care that he has for his family? Could be. Is it the fact that he is completely alpha and is willing to protect and stand up for those he loves? Sure, doesn’t hurt, but if you combine all these, you have one incredibly lovable Hero.

Sofia. Sofi’s story is gut-wrenching and heart twisting, knowing that many people go through what she had to endure. Despite how she initially handled things, she is completely 100% dedicated to her family. Sofi proves that sometimes you need to leave the ones you love, in order to protect them. My heart bled for her.

There is one other character that needs to be talked about, because this is as much his story as it is Emilio and Sofia’s. Eric, Emilio and Sofia’s son. Eric is a joy to read about. He is super intuitive, incredibly heartwarming, make you go gaga with one word and a reaction. He is truly an amalgamation of his mother and father.

I have read every book of Rose’s since High School Lover with Andrew and Loren. As her writing progresses you can feel the heart, soul, and passion that she puts into every single one of her characters. It is shown all throughout Primitivo and through that passion I, as the reader, get to receive the benefits of that. That being the incredible writing, the passion from every character, and the love of an incredible book.
