Creole Kingpin by Meghan March–Review

So, it’s been a little bit of a hot minute since I read a Meghan March book and all I have to say is, ‘why did it take me so long to read another one of her books?’ I was intrigued and shook by all that was happening in this book. I was sucked in and engrossed from beginning to end.

Creole Kingpin is set in good ole NOLA. The sights and sounds that describe within brought me right back to my time in New Orleans. Psst…Meghan, thanks for the memories! 😉😉 Our main characters are, Magnolia and Moses. To say these two had a past is a wee bit of an understatement. It may not have been long in time frame but it was intense.

“A beautiful woman who plays chess like a master. I never guessed that’d be so damn sexy or my greatest weakness.”

Fast forward fifteen years and these once former pals are meeting again. Him intentionally, her unintentionally and ready to clean out the trash and memories.
Magnolia is intense, fierce, tough, determined, gorgeous and strongly independent. She was simply power poured into a pencil skirt and a stunning exterior. Magnolia has not had an easy life, but everything she did, she did for a greater purpose. Magnolia is one of my favorite heroines that I’ve read in a while. I may have a wee lady boner for her.

“Magnolia Marie Maison. No Man owns me. No man controls me.”

Moses is this cool guy who appears to be very laid back as if nothing will touch him, until he has fully reunited with Magnolia. He is also very determined and exudes this intense cool cat exterior. Behind closed doors or with his friends, he breaks character a little bit. Once you read about these two together it’s clear that they are undeniably made for each other, but Mags is more tentative.

“That’s what I want, Moby. I want a partner. I want someone to stand by me while we weather the storms. Because my life seems to be filled with fucking storms.”

Creole Kingpin is epic. It has a little bit of everything from mystery, drama, romance and sexy! I was full on sucked in from the beginning. It was intoxicating, intense, suspenseful and mysterious. Meghan’s writing was fabulous and had every component one looks for in a book. The characters are will written, they are intense and show growth from beginning to end and her storyline and plot was spot on. I am so excited for book two, because that cliffhanger, girl had me reeling and wanting more!!
