Lesson In Corruption #1 is on sale for ONLY 99¢!!

I was settin’ up to live a good life, the kinda life I’d fought hard to deserve.

With a good woman––the best woman––at my side, a degree under my belt, and the whole world at my feet, I was livin’ the kinda happily ever after usually denied the rebellious and the criminal. I’d turned my back on that kinda life, thinkin’ I needed that clean, wholesome kinda happy.

Then the devil came dressed in the wings of an angel and took someone from me.

And I realized I was wrong.

There was no clean and wholesome for a man like me with poetry in his heart and outlaw in his blood. The life I’d been livin’ was only purgatory, holding me over until the time came for me to descend into Hell and pick up the tarnished crown that awaited me.

I was condemning my woman to a life of violence, blood, and heartache, but I had to hope she’d step up and finally be the rough and tumble queen to my Fallen MC king.

After the Fall can be read as a stand-alone romance, but you first meet the couple in Lessons in Corruption (The Fallen Men, #1)

Lock by Kimberly Knight –Release

Title: Lock
Series: Sinister Fairy Tales Collection
Author: Kimberly Knight
Genre: Dark Fairytale Retelling
Release Date: March 17, 2020
Before Zell was born, her fate was sealed.

Held captive in a high-rise overlooking New York City since the age of twelve, she had no friends her own age, no life outside of the penthouse, and absolutely no choices of her own. But what she didn’t realize was the tower where she lost her freedom would one day become her salvation. Her prince would arrive, they would fall in love, and they would come up with a plan for her to escape so they could live happily ever after.

If only it were that easy.

Every girl dreams of her life becoming a fairy tale, even Zell, who’s knowledge of romance was simply from the books she stole from other girls at the brothel.

In a world where sex, drugs, and manipulation is solely the life she knows, the only fairy tale poor Zell would endure would be a sinister one …

Because freedom always comes at a price.

“Now, son”—Frank squeezed Frank Jr’s shoulder—”tonight, you can have any one of these ladies that you want. More than one if you’d like.”

My heart, which had finally returned to its regular beat, felt as though it was cracking in my chest as I listened to what Frank said. Of course, that was why they were here.

“I told you I wasn’t a virgin,” Frank Jr. said in a low voice.

Frank chuckled. “That may be, but any one of these ladies will make sure you’re well taken care of. You might learn some things. It’s your birthday, enjoy it.”

Frank Jr. replied, his voice still low, “Whores aren’t my thing.”

“These are the finest ones around, son. You’ll be in safe hands. Take your pick, and then I can pick mine.”

“And if I don’t?” Frank Jr. asked.

“Then you’ll piss me off,” Frank stated, giving Frank Jr. a stern look.

“I can assure you,” Madam cut in, “all of my girls are clean and well trained. They aren’t like high school girls.” She chuckled.

Frank Jr. looked at his father another moment and then stepped toward the line of girls. He still hadn’t taken a sip of the vodka in his hand, and that made me nervous. I wasn’t sure what Madam would do to me if Frank Jr. asked for something else. Was Grey Goose not a good brand?

Just like Madam had done not ten minutes prior, Frank Jr. walked by each girl, looking them up and down from their heads to their feet and back up. When he got to the end, I expected him to walk back down the line because he hadn’t made a decision yet. Instead, he stopped in front of me, looking back at Frank and Madam. “I choose her,” he said.

My eyes widened as Madam said in a raised voice, “Zell isn’t one of the girls.”

“She’s not?” Frank Jr. questioned and turned his head to look at me.

I lowered my gaze while I waited for Madam to respond. I expected her to say something about me being her daughter, and therefore, off-limits. Instead, she said, “She’s never been with a man before. She wouldn’t know what to do. Pick one of the others. They will show you a good time.”

My face got hot again, and I was certain I looked like a tomato. I couldn’t believe that Madam had told Frank Jr. I was a virgin. I’d read about a virgin once. She met a guy with a helicopter and had weird sex with him. She seemed to like it, but that didn’t mean I was ready for this handsome boy to know I was a virgin.

“Is that true?” Frank Jr. asked as he looked into my eyes. “Are you a virgin?” I nodded, not able to speak. He turned back to Madam and his father. “Then, yes, I want her.”

“She’s not even groomed,” Madam stated to Frank.

“Son, why don’t you pick someone else?”

“With all due respect, Father, you brought me here to, what was it? Become a man? Being a man is choosing who I want to sleep with, and I choose …” He paused for a moment. “Zell.”

The tray I was still holding fell from my grasp and clattered onto the floor. Madam’s gaze snapped to me, and my eyes widened before I quickly bent to pick it up. My heart was beating so fast in my chest that I was certain Frank Jr. could hear it. I kept my gaze on the floor, not able to look at anyone. I couldn’t believe this was happening.

Lock by Kimberly Knight –Review

**3.75 princess stars**

Prior to starting the book, Kimberly informs us that Lock is a dark retelling of the original story of Rapunzel by the Brothers Grimm. So, instantly my dark little heart started to get a wee bit excited. The Brothers Grimm are not Disney, so it should be promising with the dark aspect. Now, I must admit that I was not completely familiar with this storyline, so I looked it up and Lock is indeed straight from the version of The Brothers Grimm.

Lock was a rather quick and easy read. There were many secondary storylines going on that could have been chaotic, but eventually added to the overall primary storyline. We see Zell through many stages in her life from beginning to end.

Zell is a very sheltered child that is living in a penthouse in the sky. Her whole world consists of her mother, bodyguards, a few other females and her weekly trips to feed the ducks. Other than that, she is locked in her tower/penthouse in the sky. The first interaction with Zell is when she’s twelve years old. She is growing and changing, and despite being homeschooled, there are many things she is unaware of. We next see her at seventeen. Things have changed in the past five years and she is now working for her mom doing different things around the house. Zell is Imminently worried that when she turns eighteen her role around the house will change.

One night, a father/son walk into Zell’s little world. This is where she meets Frankie and her life isn’t the same since. Frankie’s father is Frank Sr and senior is extremely happy and proud that his son is following in his footsteps. Frank has been waiting for this day for a long time. Little does Sr know that there are nefarious intentions running around.

I’m sure your saying, ‘well, Sue, what happens’? Well my little lagers, that is not my story to tell. You need to hear it from Frankie and Zell. What I will say, is that it was a unique retelling on a Disney-fied character. It promised to be dark and there were elements of that process, but for me it didn’t seem to be dark enough. I was waiting for the story to have a little more grit. One thing that really bothered me was the flip-flopping of perspectives. Like I said earlier, there are many secondary characters and they want to be heard as well. I had to go back quite a few times to see which character was ‘talking’.

Despite all that being said, Frankie and Zell, learn how to fight for themselves, stand up for themselves and to trust some people. I was intrigued, captivated and mesmerized enough to read this book in one sitting.

Creole Kingpin by Meghan March–Review

So, it’s been a little bit of a hot minute since I read a Meghan March book and all I have to say is, ‘why did it take me so long to read another one of her books?’ I was intrigued and shook by all that was happening in this book. I was sucked in and engrossed from beginning to end.

Creole Kingpin is set in good ole NOLA. The sights and sounds that describe within brought me right back to my time in New Orleans. Psst…Meghan, thanks for the memories! 😉😉 Our main characters are, Magnolia and Moses. To say these two had a past is a wee bit of an understatement. It may not have been long in time frame but it was intense.

“A beautiful woman who plays chess like a master. I never guessed that’d be so damn sexy or my greatest weakness.”

Fast forward fifteen years and these once former pals are meeting again. Him intentionally, her unintentionally and ready to clean out the trash and memories.
Magnolia is intense, fierce, tough, determined, gorgeous and strongly independent. She was simply power poured into a pencil skirt and a stunning exterior. Magnolia has not had an easy life, but everything she did, she did for a greater purpose. Magnolia is one of my favorite heroines that I’ve read in a while. I may have a wee lady boner for her.

“Magnolia Marie Maison. No Man owns me. No man controls me.”

Moses is this cool guy who appears to be very laid back as if nothing will touch him, until he has fully reunited with Magnolia. He is also very determined and exudes this intense cool cat exterior. Behind closed doors or with his friends, he breaks character a little bit. Once you read about these two together it’s clear that they are undeniably made for each other, but Mags is more tentative.

“That’s what I want, Moby. I want a partner. I want someone to stand by me while we weather the storms. Because my life seems to be filled with fucking storms.”

Creole Kingpin is epic. It has a little bit of everything from mystery, drama, romance and sexy! I was full on sucked in from the beginning. It was intoxicating, intense, suspenseful and mysterious. Meghan’s writing was fabulous and had every component one looks for in a book. The characters are will written, they are intense and show growth from beginning to end and her storyline and plot was spot on. I am so excited for book two, because that cliffhanger, girl had me reeling and wanting more!!

For now??
