Blame it on the Vodka by Fiona Cole
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This review is hard for me to write. While I loved the concept of the book and most importantly, I LOVE Fiona Cole, I had a hard time connecting with the characters/parts of the story. This may be, because I didn’t read the first books in the series, but I am not sure.
Austin and Rae are best friends who met in college. Now, years later, they are still best friends, but one side is wishing for more, while the other has a steadfast, self-imposed promise of NEVER marrying. Fast forward to being in Vegas for a friend’s wedding and apparently their own. What happens next?
I loved Austin. He fought for what he wanted and was determined to make things work. Rae on the other hand just did not connect with me. Due to situations in her past, it made it almost impossible for her to get over it.
Despite all this, the friends to lovers, secret marriage storyline, and ‘what happens in Vegas, doesn’t always stay in Vegas’ was delightful.

Big Balls by Anna Michael–New Release/Review
Big Balls: a single dad sports romance by Anna Michael
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
When reading the blurb, I immediately thought this was right up my alley. I love single dad sports romances and after a run of dark romances, I needed a cleansing book. I am so incredibly happy that I picked this book up!
Anna Michael is a new to me author who delivers a storyline that has steam, a spunky heroine, three best friends that a guy wishes he did not have sometimes, and who could forget Katy, Ethan’s daughter. The BF’s and Zoe were hilarious in the book, but I have to say that Katy was the star.
Katy is not your typical kid. She is neuro diverse who flourishes under her tutor, Zoe. Katy’s autism does not slow her down when she has someone to teach her and guide her. She is whip smart and may only be six, but she acts six times that age and is the ‘mother’ to this band of billionaires.
Poor Ethan has been dealing with things in his personal life that have caused him to be guarded, sheltered, and overly protective of Katy and her surroundings. As a wide receiver for the New Orleans Sinners, his hands are his money makers, but the plays that he does after catching the ball have earned him the moniker, Big Balls. Well, Mr. Balls, it is time to nut up and get on board with the changes that are happening around you.
I, truly, must give, Ms. Michael a round of applause. Technically, this book was spot on about the autism spectrum. It can be difficult to write about a topic if you do not have firsthand knowledge. For me, Katy is very reminiscent to Asperger (high functioning) patients I have worked with. Congratulations!

Blurb:
Meraki Mallory lived two lives. The one that everyone thought she did, and the one she worked hard to hide. She burned with her demons instead of running from them, but when Niko Davis rode back into town with a bag full of secrets, she knew she would need to start hiding them instead. Niko knew her inside and out, and if he saw even a smidge of her soul, he would see that she was no longer the girl he left behind…
When the president of the New York chapter of the Seven Knights MC dies, he passes the gavel down to Niko… but unknown to anyone else, that’s not the only thing he left him.
Niko fights for what’s his, and he’s only ever claimed one person in his life—Meraki. So when he rips away the walls she built around herself with his bare teeth, the secrets that she has so fiercely hidden away all of these years suddenly bleed onto the four unmarked graves laid out in front of his steel-cap boots…
It started with a bond that destroyed everyone around them…
…it ends with blood.
*this is a DARK ROMANCE. Please check triggers if you think you may need to.
**Antichrist is not a retelling of Hunchback of Notre Dame, there are slight nods here and there toward the original tale.
About the Author:
Amo Jones is a USA Today & Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, totally winging this author thing (she’s probably doing it all wrong). She likes cake, loves wine, and her religion is magic (Slytherin). She’s a profound work-a-holic, but when she’s not writing, you can find her chilling with her kids & Husband at the nearest beach, with a cocktail in her hand.

Fall of the Stars by Monica James–New Release

Fall of the Stars
Book 2: In Love and War
Monica James
England is bleeding.
And there isn’t a thing I can do about it.
I am once again a prisoner to Wessex, captured by King Egbert because holding me hostage will bring them to him—my two Vikings who will risk heaven and earth to save me.
But I don’t need saving.
I am Princess Emeline, and I was taught by the best, and his name…Skarth the Godless.
The man whom I love more than anything in this world.
But things begin to blur when Ulf the Bloody reminds me of the promise I made, and that promise is that I belong to him.
We must work together to overthrow King Egbert, but the war I fight within my heart is far more dangerous than anything I will ever face on the battlefield.
The choice is not simple because we all must make sacrifices. But I soon realize that all is not fair in love and war.
Lives will be lost.
Hearts will be broken.
And come dawn, life as we know it will be changed forevermore.

Fall of the Stars by Monica James–Review
Monica James has done it yet again. She has eviscerated me with another all-in, ball-busting, heart-stopping, action-packed, out-of-the-box romance read. The battle between England and the Scandinavians, life vs love, good versus bad, and the battle of herstory vs history are alive and well.
Emaline and Skarth are in love and out for revenge. Skarth’s old best friend, Ulf, is more prominent than ever, and where does England reside in all of this? These are just some of the questions we get answers to.
I finished FotS about 5 days ago, and I am still shook. When Monica James puts her pen to paper, watch out, because you will be left with a 100% angst-filled and angst-driven book. She executed every little plot point, character-driven storyline, and minute detail to perfection.
I was in love, saddened, shocked, elated, and eventually content with this final book in the duet. If possible, I would give this book, a million ‘North Star’ stars, but alas, I cannot. Five stars is the max and therefore it will be. No matter what trope Ms. James executes, she can write brilliantly. Highly recommend!!
5 ‘North Star’ Stars!
