Thirteen Hours To You by Annie Emerson–Review

Sometimes in life, you are blessed to come across people that will enrich your lives and make you feel full. You can take this premise and apply it to Annie Emerson’s debut duet, Thirteen Hours to You. This is the book that you never knew you needed but was everything you were waiting for.

Our main characters are Boo Radley Cooper and Meekai James Lannister. A story about two teenagers who are thirteen hours apart. Teenagers that have no knowledge of each other, yet somehow, fate works her magic and these two are pulled together and into each other’s orbit.

“Sometimes goodbyes lead to a second chance. If I see you again, it’ll mean that this goodbye was meant as a beginning, not an end. Fate, The first point of contact.”

~Meekai

Radley Cooper has had an extraordinarily horrible and sad upbringing. With the little breadcrumb trail that Annie leaves us, it is difficult not to feel for this girl and yet, salivating to know the whole story. I will say that nobody should have to go through what she went through, yet unfortunately, it happens every day in real life. **Beware of Triggers**

“His time would come. I’d make sure he paid for his sins. I’d deliver him personally. My kingdom come. My will be done. You might have me now, but I’ll destroy you later.”

~Radley

Meekai is the golden boy. He is the manwhore who is looking for his other piece. The one that when they come together just clicks into place. When Radley and Kai meet, they realize they have more in common than they thought and are slowly fixing/healing one another.

There is another subset of characters that brought a lot to the Radley/Meekai table. Gamma alone is worth every penny spent. She is utterly amazing, intuitive and everything I would like in a ‘Gamma’. Becca, Brooks, Linc and Wyatt. The incredible secondary cast that keeps things rocking and rolling. These four are on another level of family/friendship, but most of all, D-R-A-M-A!! All their drama. Bring it on because I am loving the drama that surrounds this group. I live for this!!

This book has left me speechless. It is haunting, ethereal, roaring with humor, tender, the concept of a strong family unit, learning to love/trust not only yourself but another. It leaves you questioning, ‘can love truly win in the end’? For a debut book, Thirteen Hours to You, is outstanding. There were so many times that I felt I was not only an outsider looking in, but I was truly engrained in the story and present for each scene. Annie Emerson wrote her heart out when writing this book. It will easily land on my ‘Best of 2021’ list. Now, beware, there is a second book that is coming out soon (May), but the ending of book 1 leaves you wanting more, but not with a horribly bad cliffhanger. I am just so ready now to see how this ends!!

Congratulations Ms. Emerson on a book beautifully written. If I could, I would give you 10 ⭐, but since I cannot, I will leave you 5⭐ and a BIG welcome to the ‘best of’ list! Enjoy reading this book. Radley and Meekai will suck you in and pull you along for the ride.

“Where words fail, music speaks.”

Vicious Little Snakes by Trilina Pucci–Book Review

High school can be cruel and savage. Take this and add into the fact that we are talking the crème of the crop that attend with an abundance of money and what do you get at Hillcrest Prep? Vicious Little Snakes. The question is, does Caroline and/or Liam live up to the title of this book? Yes, 100% yes.
Liam is best friends with Grey. Grey has a stepsister, Caroline. While Van was away, Caroline became one of Liam’s best friends. Now, Van is back and has resumed her position of best friends with Grey (boyfriend) and Liam. Where does this put Caroline now? Let me tell you. Pissed off! Take Cruella deVille, Maleficent, Ursala, Harley Quinn and Rachel McAdams in Mean Girls and mix them all together and what do you get? Just a pinkie full of viciousness in Caroline Whitmore. This girl is the Queen of mean.

Liam. I loved Liam in Filthy Little Pretties and wondered what version of him we would find in VLS. Liam is cocky, well loved, adorable and a true friend with those he considers family. He desperately wants to be his own person, but he also does not want to let anyone, specifically his parents, down. He is a wonderful artist with big dreams but is expected to take over his father’s company.
Ms. Pucci built this story amazingly. There are flashbacks, but every single one is pivotal for one reason. Building Liam and Caroline’s back story so that those onion layers merge in the present. Did I like Caroline? Honestly, no, not all the time, but did I get a better understanding of why she was the way that she was. Analogy wise, Caroline is that ‘vicious little snake’, while Liam is the snake charmer.

After all is said and done, when my kindle would not advance anymore, did I feel complete? Did I love the storyline presented to me? Was I happy with the growth of the characters? Yes, yes and yes. The layers, the angst, the forlorn glances, the love all brought this story of Liam and Caroline’s full circle.

The Art of Falling For You by Maya Hughes–Cover Reveal

COVER REVEAL

Title: The Art Of Falling For You

Series: Falling Trilogy #1

Author: Maya Hughes

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Cover Design: Najla Qamber

Release Date: March 11, 2021

BLURB:
Bay Bishop aka The New Girl is my new neighbor. In her glasses and stage crew black clothes she has a knack for fading into the background.

She’s probably the only one who rolls her eyes when I walk past instead of cheering on my last touchdown play. But before I can shove her into the recesses of my mind filed under “Not my problem” she lands herself smack dab in the middle of my dreams.

I catch her singing with a voice unlike any I’ve heard before that taps into feelings I shouldn’t have for the girl who avoids me at all costs.

With three months until graduation, the final play is on. Only it’s not for more points. It’s for Bay.

Unlike my success on the field, this win is anything but assured. But I can’t stop myself from taking the risk.

There’s no flashing scoreboard.

There’s no cheering crowd.

There’s only her and me.

The countdown clock is ticking. The only thing scarier about finding my first love will be losing her.

AUTHOR BIO

Maya Hughes, that’s me!, can often be found sneaking in another chapter while hiding in the bathroom from her kids! 🙂 I’m a romance writer who loves taking inspiration from everyday life, namely my husband and biggest fan. Inspiration also strikes when I hear a song, meet someone new or daydream while at soccer practice.

I love writing stories that capture the possibilities of the paths less travelled and enjoy experiencing life through my characters’ eyes.

I’m the mom of three little ones, the wife to an amazing husband and also work full time. Some of my favorite things are cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, white wine, laughing until I can’t breathe, traveling with my family and Jeff Goldblum.

Frayed, an all-new angst-filled standalone romance from Laura Pavlov, is coming March 18th and we have the gorgeous cover!

My name is Adelaide Edington, and my life was mapped out for me before I even entered the world.
Who I’d date, where I’d attend college, what I’d be when I grew up.
But there comes a time in everyone’s life when they face a fork in the road.
Should I go left, or should I go right?
It didn’t matter as long as I didn’t remain stagnant any longer.
Jett Stone opened me up to a whole new world.
Reminding me that it was okay to find my own way.
I could have roots in Willow Springs and still spread my wings and fly.
What I didn’t expect was to fall in love with the broody football player.
The boy I’d known since kindergarten.
The boy who I wasn’t supposed to be with—but had somehow become my everything.

In The Midst Of Chaos by CLymari–Review

Claudia had me hooked from the word ‘Go’. I don’t know how she does it, but I was salivating for more. I needed all the words, and I could not read it fast enough.

In The Midst of Chaos is the first book in her, ‘Crull Brothers’ series. This book contained all things needed for a recipe of chaos. Darker romance, a bada@@ heroine, Nashton (😍sigh), drama, angst, and mischief. Add on top of that there are ties between the Crulls and the Death Disciples, MC. All rolled together in a deliciously intriguing book.

Finley Primrose. Finley is the bada@@ heroine that I LOVE to see in a story. She knows her place in the family but is not going to let anyone tell her what to do. She is fierce, determined, and in love with a Crull brother. Which one is it though, as she is promised to Huxley in an arranged marriage. I wonder how well that is going to work out? 😉

The Crull brothers are Nashton, Huxley, and Duncan. Nashton is the main hero, although all brothers play a part in this story. This story is truly about the Crull and Primrose families, so it’s a treat that we get to read about all the characters involved.

In The Midst Of Chaos is that book that just pulls you in and takes you on a ride from one page to the next. I absolutely adored all aspects of ITMOC. The mystery, the intrigue, the highs and lows, the romance and rekindling of love, twists and turns, and the uncovering of some big ‘ole secrets that will test them as a family. I am so eager and anxious to find out what comes next, I feel like my heart is in my throat waiting with anticipation.
