Overcast (B723, #1) by Hazel Grace–Review

5 ‘Stormi’ stars

Hazel Grace is embarking on a new uncharted territory in her repertoire of books. We have gotten to know her for her strong male hero in a varying of romance settings, including historical, new adult, political, and now, a truly dark romance. She has dipped her toes in the pool of a dark romance previously, but nothing can prepare you for Emeric in Overcast. Previously, he made an appearance in her, Illusive Duet, series.

Overcast is everything she has teased and promised. It is dark, there are triggers, and there is also a spot of sunshine through the clouds by the name of Stormi. M and Stormi are complete opposites. They are the ying to each other’s yang, but that doesn’t mean they automatically click together like long lost puzzle pieces. There are many hoops and obstacles that they have to work through in order to find what the future truly has in store for them.

Despite the surrounding/situations, it is difficult to NOT feel for M. He has been through more in his entire life than most could ever dream of experiencing. He may be a mercenary, but he is still all male, protective, loveable, and coming into his own emotionally.

Stormi has an awarding ending, where she has come full circle and grown into the girl/woman she should have been from the beginning. She has become the strong, emotionally, and physically, powerful woman that M needs in his life.

Overall, I loved Marty, Stormi, and Overcast. They are two incredible people with an incredible story. It was hard to not feel invested in this pair. The writing and storyline were on point! I can’t wait to read more of her dark romance side!!

PS… Along the way, we are introduced to some harsh, but lovable, secondary characters. I can’t wait to dig into their minds and see what is truly going on with them (hint, hint, Hazel Grace😉).

Bona Fide (Illusive duet, book 2) by Hazel Grace–Review

BFBanner

I have read all of Hazel Grace’s books, starting with Arranged (Array Series 1) and have seen the progression of her writing increase with each book. This writing is completely at its best in the Illusive duet.

Catfish, book 1, knocked me off my seat onto my ‘bass’😉. I was sucked in from the word Prologue. Wade has been my man since that first paragraph (sorry Dee. You get him first, but I also lay claim to him😉😂). Catfish was one heck of a ride, that I was not ready for, but COMPLETELY loved!

So, Bona Fide comes out and I thought, ‘what is the cliffhanger queen going to do to us now’? Simple answer, a lot!! If you were looking for an easy wrap up with a cute little bow, go someplace else. You will not find that here. Now, it does not mean that there may/may not be a HEA involved, that is for you to find out. It just means in either scenario, HEA or no HEA, you will be taken on a ride.

Bona Fide continues with the ever-tumultuous Reagan and Wade. Reagan is spicy, hot, not a pushover, can take care of herself and confident. She is full of witty comebacks, which had me snickering throughout the book. This does not mean that there was not angst and drama going on. At times, I felt like I needed to cut through it with a knife.
Wade has a whole other journey going on, his political journey and how to not become just another politician. When you think of the word politician, what are some things you think of? Confident, charming, relatable, goal-oriented, uncomplicated, and fearless come to mind? What about negative characteristics or people’s perception of them? Corrupt, dishonest, unethical, greedy, selfish, and bad judgment, to name a few! I will not give away what Wade does or who he is, but I will say, you really begin to feel the amount of pressure that is on his shoulders and how he tries to maintain the man beneath the political shroud. There are many things going on with Wade, but overall, you can feel how incredible of a MC he is. It truly is hard not to fall in love with him.

Hazel Grace is blossoming into an incredible author. Catfish/Bona Fide is evidence of that. There are massive amounts of angst, boat loads of drama, sprinkled with some comedic laughs and bucket loads full of hot, sexy, and romantic times. I HIGHLY recommend this series!!

Siren by Hazel Grace–Review

“You might want to keep your distance, Blood,”…’It’s not a smart idea for you to get too close to me.”

Siren is a fantastic, enchanting and dark re-telling of The Little Mermaid. Take everything you know about Ariel and chuck it out the window. Davina, she is the star of this book, along with her sisters, Dagen, and Tobias. I am addicted and want more!!!

There were so many incredible moments in this book. The relationship and banter between Davina and the other Princesses of Lacuna is so funny and a completely sister thing to do. The other characters are written so well, they pop off the screen and it’s easy to visualize what is happening as you read it.

Hazel Grace continues to surprise me with her books. She makes me long for more and I don’t know how she does it, but she does. She has made me laugh, cry, flat out swoon, and had complete emotional annihilation. Yet, I still come back for more.

Pick up Siren and continue with the rest of the ‘Sinister Fairytale Collections’ series. You won’t be disappointed!!
