Beautiful Graves by LJ Shen–Review

One woman with two different kinds of love. Which would you choose if you had to choose? Your soulmate or the love of your life? Enter Everlynne, Joe, and Dom.

LJ has written a two-part love triangle evolving around these three with Ever being the primary catalyst. Beautiful Graves is exquisitely written, excruciatingly gut-wrenching, heart-breaking, and full of angst, Angst, and ANGST!

“I loved you, Ever Lawson. But I want you to know, you’re the worst thing that’s ever f*g happened to me.”

There was so much heaviness and feelings of sorrow that was prevalent throughout, mainly from Ever herself. She is the girl with unique dreams and loves that doesn’t quite fit in. To counterbalance her morose being are a couple great secondary characters that fill the book and situations with moments of levity.

What have we learned? Love is messy and life isn’t perfect. Yet, through these three we find the normalcy of insecurities and growing pains of teenagers through their mid-twenties. It was raw, passion-filled, mistake driven, and yet through it all imperfectly perfect.

Holy read, Batman! Nudes by Sarah Robinson

33858470Sarah Robinson is a masterful genius! Done, enough said. Just kidding, the book was flipping phenomenal! There is a strong under current that no matter what life throws at you, we as human beings should be building each other up NOT shaming them. Wonderfully written and don’t let the cover persuade you to not read this book. It’s part of the whole concept and ties in great!

Ms. Robinson wrote 2 characters that have so much depth that it’s hard not to get sucked into the book to find out the other layers. Aria is an upcoming actress with her first leading roll. She wants to be taken seriously in this business and won’t allow anything to happen to her and her success. She wants to earn it on her own and not look like she was given preferential treatment.

Ben is the new CEO of Shepherd Film Studios. He is trying to make a comeback after having a nasty and bitter divorce. One thing he told himself after the divorce was, ‘No more actresses’. However, this all changes when he meets Aria Rose. Their chemistry is off the charts and the insta-love that we experience was so well written and believable. (I’m not saying I don’t believe is insta-love, its hard to read sometimes if it’s not written well).

If I could I would give Ms. Robinson and Nudes a 5+, but alas I can’t. I can tell you though that this a book you don’t want to miss. It’s is amazing!!

Do you ever really get a second chance at love? Blinded by Maya Hughes

34909597

Blinded is a second chance love story that surrounds, Gabe & Alex.  Their initial meeting was when Gabe was an actor just starting in the business and Alex was a college student that worked at a diner. They had an ‘insta-love’ attraction with each other from the word go.

They are soon separated, but Gabe left a little piece of him with Alex ;). After some time passed, Gabe soon realizes why he has never heard from Alex and decides to go win her back.

Now I should admit that I’m not usually a fan of second chance romance stories, because I know where the story goes (to a second chance), however Maya Hughes wrote a book that was much more than this type of story.  She pulled out many emotions from her characters that inevitably pulled them out of you.  Now don’t get me wrong, that there were times that I was so frustrated with Gabe and Alex that I just wanted to give them a shake to wake them up, but that is a sign of good writing!

Good job, Maya, I’m looking forward to the next in the series.
