My Review

Blurb
Arianna Capizola is her father’s daughter.
Humble. Hardworking. Honest.
She’d rather spend her days helping at the local shelter
than brushing shoulders with her vain and entitled classmates.
Niccolò Marchetti is his father’s son.
Dark. Dangerous. Deceitful.
He’d rather spend his days getting bloody in the ring than
attending class and keeping up pretences.
When their paths cross at Montague University neither of
them are willing to drop the walls they’ve spent so long building. But he can’t
resist the girl with stars in her eyes, and she can’t forget the guy who saved
her that night.
There’s only one catch.
Nicco isn’t Arianne’s knight-in-shining armor, he’s the son
of her father’s greatest enemy.
He is the enemy.
And their families are at war.
**Prince of Hearts is the first book in Nicco and Ari’s
duet. Due to mature content that some readers may find distressing, this book
is recommended for readers 18+

“It’s a
beautiful night,” I said from the shadows.
“Nicco?”
She glanced around, searching for me. When her eyes landed on me standing by
the corner of the building, she stood up. “What do you want?”
“Ahh,
Bambolina.” I let out a weary sigh. “That is a loaded question.”
“Humor me.”
Lina took a step closer. The moonlight danced off the soft features of her
face.
Jesus, she
was so fucking beautiful.
“I want to
kiss you.” I inched toward her, unable to resist the magnetic pull I felt
whenever I was around her. “I want to finish what we started earlier. I want to
feel you beneath me, hear you cry my name.”
I want
to make you mine.
“You
couldn’t get away from me fast enough earlier.” Her confused gaze cut me like a
thousand tiny blades over my skin.
“It’s not
what you think,” I said, moving closer still. Lina mirrored my movements until
we were standing in front of each other.
Until she
was close enough to touch.
“What’s
happening to us, Nicco?” she whispered. “Why do I feel like this?”
“What do
you feel like?” I brushed the hair off her neck. She had a thick hoodie pulled
over her body, but I was still able to stroke the skin beneath her ear. Lina’s
eyes drifted closed as she inhaled a shaky breath.
“I look for
you when you’re not there. I feel you when you’re close. I can’t get you out of
my head.” Her eyes opened again, fixing on mine. She smiled and it was like a bolt
of lightning to my heart.
This girl.
This
innocent sweet girl was ruining me.

Author Bio
Author of over thirty mature young adult and new adult
novels, L A is happiest writing the kind of books she loves to read: addictive
stories full of teenage angst, tension, twists and turns.
Home is a small town in the middle of England where she currently juggles being
a full-time writer with being a mother/referee to two little people. In her
spare time (and when she’s not camped out in front of the laptop) you’ll most
likely find L A immersed in a book, escaping the chaos that is life.

Crowned By Fate by Amo Jones–Review

95468608_2876722135752900_4642622161054334976_o

Ok, everybody, visualize this. A young woman stares out into a vast countryside setting. She sees nothing but one tree and open spaces, so she decides that she is going to plant a tree. Now this would not be any normal tree, it would be her storytelling tree. This tree is named Crowned By Fate, which is eloquently written along the trunk. A book that she is pondering on writing.

As she watches her special tree grow, she notices that the trunk and leaves are strong, sturdy, and beautiful. Due to a special planting procedure, she can see what the root ball was doing. The root ball was twisted, tangled, anything but pretty with roots that go their own ways. These roots do anything but follow a predestined plan, they are confusing and intriguing, and this young woman finally got through her writer’s block courtesy of a tree.

Her books are anything but traditionally normal, but she is known for the sudden twists, turns, highs and lows, storylines that are entangled with others. Through the dark side, the beautiful is seen through her unconventional storytelling. I say this every time, ‘I don’t know how her books could get better and top this’ and every time they do, and she proves me wrong. She is dark, her storylines are convoluted, yet, through whatever pain, sadness inducing, ugliness the unconventional H/h in her books are beautiful. She may write dark romance, but all words from beginning to end are devastatingly exquisite.

Crowned By Fate is Amo Jones newest release. After a jaw dropping, hold you breathe for three years kind of cliffhanger ending, I could not even begin to imagine where this story would go. According to my husband, there was a lot of ‘WTF’, ‘Holy Sheet’ and 😲 coming from me as I read. The story of Isa and Bryant broke me. I was bawling. The amount of life they went through is simply heartbreaking. As bad as Bryant’s ‘life’ appeared to be, Isa, my poor homegirl Isa, went through multiple lives to end up where she did. Remember that twisted and tangled root ball and how you could not follow it, well, welcome to the world of Amo Jones. Do yourself a favor and don’t even try to guess the ending. You would not be able to figure it out. So many ups/downs, twists, and turns and and a little mischief thrown in.

CBF is a 5 ‘I didn’t want to ruin her. I just wanted to love her’ stars!!

The Hunter by LJ Shen–Review

The Hunter, wow. The Hunter was immediately on my radar when I saw the early blurb. A new world called The Boston Belles, which included characters from previous books, such as Hunter Fitzpatrick himself, Troy Brennan, and Sparrow. Sign me up please!

Hunter Fitzpatrick is an enigma, an anomaly. Hunter is known as the ‘Royal Pipelines notorious playboy.’ Unfortunately for most he never downplayed all rumors circulating. It took one feisty redhead to scratch the surface and what she found was more than how he saw himself. Hunter is a dirty talking, flirting alpha a-hole. He is also caring, smart, witty, lacked focus and was lost.

Sailor Brennan could also be described as an enigma and an anomaly, just slightly different. She is a quiet girl, an archer with her sights aimed at the Olympics and a nerd. She lived for those quiet times all to herself but let’s not forget who her father is. Troy Brennan. When pushed, she has that fire, will not back down and can bust your balls in 0.3 seconds flat. I love Sailor. She is/has the potential to be, a kick a** lead. Despite having a solid goal in life, she is also lost and missing something. So, has Hunter found his next prey? I think both find the answer surprising.

I believe LJ Shen has just hit another milestone with her new, ‘Boston Belles’ series. Every character played their part beautifully in expanding our eyes to the world of a ‘reputable businessman’ to the 1% upper crust echelon. Hunter and Sailor together are electric together with fireworks that exuded from the pages.

I am saddened that Hunter and Sailor’s story has come to ‘The End’, although, there is a plethora of other book potentials Cillian, Sam, maybe even the Penrose sisters. I am in love and cannot wait for more, Boston’s Belles.

Blowback by Monica James–Review

The Monsters Within Duet deserves something special to be said about it. Quick refresher, I absolutely loved, adored and salivated for Bullseye. Ms. James wrote something exceptional with book one. So, the question is, ‘How do you follow up with such perfection of Bullseye?’ Simple. You write a kick*ss, soul encompassing, gut twisting, emotionally sucking book two. Welcome to Blowback.

Now, Blowback picks up right where it left off in Bullseye. The intensity, passion and of course, the dark and twisted all remain. Monica did a fantastic job of engulfing you into the dark, seedy, twisted underground of Detroit. It was easy to not only feel as if you were there, but to visualize the story happening around you almost as if you were experiencing everything in Virtual Reality.

Bull and Tiger are an intriguing pair of emotionally stunted individuals who have had to learn hard life lessons and most importantly, a human representation of yin yang. Each have issues, but one thing they do know is that a certain calm flows through them when they are together. They are electric and able to soar when they are together, yet when apart they fall flat and are left to keep the demons at bay the only way they know how. Bull and Tiger not only make an insane coupling, but they are the piece missing to make each other whole (with a little Fluffball thrown in😉).

Bull…Bull is still this fierce mastermind, enigmatic, anti-hero with thoughts of revenge. Lily is caring, kind and sees the best in people. She receives an awakening of sorts and then we get to see Tiger Lily at her fiercest. The things that she would do for the ones she loves made her strong, fierce and a true kick*ss heroine. I loved to see the expansion of her personality and the fierce heart she has inside.

Although, non-conventional, their love, friendship and relationship are what one dreams about. Who needs Prince Charming when you have the Black Knight riding through town to save not only his one true love, but the person who saved him?

I am completely addicted to Monica James and her writing style. Her heroes are broken yet fierce. The heroines seem to evolve and find themselves. Tiger completely fit the bill with her rough and tough tenacity, sweet nature and finally, her ferociousness. Bull and Tiger will be a couple that will not leave my mind very soon. I’ve laughed, cried, screamed, and pulled a tantrum having to step away from my kindle. Yet, overall, though, I loved. I loved fiercely with a consistent storyline, all plot holes and questions answered, characters that were so much more than one-dimensional and most importantly, I loved Bull, Tiger and Jordy. These characters will not leave my psyche for an exceptionally long time!! Congratulations, Ms. James, on a fabulous book!!

IOU by Kristy Marie–Review

IMG_7901

I fell hard for Kristy Marie, her writing and the characters in her Commandeer in Briefs series. I truly did not think I could love main characters more than Theo/Anniston, or the bromance of Theo/Gage. She proved me wrong. I am in serious love with Maverick and Ainsley and their band of side characters.

Ainsley is the girl that you want to be friends with. I think we all could find some aspect of her character that would resonate within ourselves. She is fun, quirky, a ‘button pusher’ unintentionally, plucky and strong willed. Despite all these positive characteristics, she is a hot mess. This will lead to many ‘adventures’ with Ainsley and you will be laughing so hard at her antics your ribs will hurt in the morning.

Maverick. It is hard to say his name without wanting to sigh. Maverick is moody, broody, his name alone makes people quiver (and not in a good way sometimes😏). Despite his rough, stony and cold-hearted outward appearance, he is something else entirely underneath and it only takes one tenacious girl to start poking holes in his façade.

Now, take their individual characteristics and combine them. What do you have? Maverick and Ainsley’s relationship, which will never be boring, always hilarious and my new favorite couple of Kristy Marie’s. IOU is written so entirely well that it will have you feeling the feels. Personally, I cannot help but not looking at the cover and breaking out in a smile. It is fun, refreshing, hilarious, powerful and enduring. I loved every little thing about IOU and am so happy to see Kristy Marie spread her wings and try something new. Well done, Kristy, well done!!

PS…One side character I must mention is Lawrence!! He is downright lovable!!
